Larry Pickett Foundation General Fund: Phase 1 "Mission Launch"

Help us hit our first $10,000 milestone to power the Larry Pickett Foundation’s 2026 operations

The Larry Pickett Foundation is officially cleared for takeoff, and we need our “Founding Donors” to help us fuel the engine. We are just getting started, but the need for our Stabilization Grants is already here.

By giving to the General Fund: Phase 1 “Mission Launch”, you aren’t just making a donation—you are building the infrastructure of a national safety net. Your support today directly funds the activation of our assistance lines, our first responder advocacy media, and the rapid-response grant pools that allow us to step in the moment tragedy strikes.

Join us on the ground floor as we bridge the gap between crisis and recovery for heroes and families nationwide.

Every donor to the Mission Launch Fund will be permanently recognized on our ‘Founding Pillars’ digital wall as a thank you for believing in us from day one.

Transparency & Stewardship Note

The Larry Pickett Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We utilize a Dual 85/15 Impact Model to ensure every gift provides both immediate relief and long-term protection for the first responder community.

1. For Specific Mission Gifts (Restricted)

When you give to a specific Hero, Survivor, or First Responder Agency campaign, your gift is purpose-restricted:

  • 85% Impact (The Mission): * For Individuals: Directly funds verified, out-of-pocket recovery costs for the named recipient (Direct-to-Vendor).

    • For Departments: Directly funds the specific equipment or technology requested by the Fire Chief or Department Head. These funds are locked to the verified invoice for that life-saving tool.

  • 15% Stewardship (The Narrative Engine): Equips the local district involved in the rescue and funds the professional media, vetting, and national advocacy required to reach the campaign’s funding goal.

2. For General Fund Gifts (Unrestricted)

Gifts to our General Fund provide the Foundation with Board Variance Power—the flexibility to respond wherever the need is greatest:

  • The Operations: These funds cover essential costs, including assistance line, legal compliance, and the administrative labor required to protect the foundation.

  • The “Always Ready” Pool: Per Board policy, a minimum of 15% of General Fund contributions is set aside into a rapid-response pool for rural fire departments and “Families in Crisis” who do not yet have an active public campaign.

Grant Coordination & Integrity

The Foundation operates as a Payer of Last Resort. Grants cover the “Gap” remaining after primary insurance or state benefits. All disbursements are made Direct-to-Vendor to ensure charitable integrity, OBBBA compliance, and to protect the recipient’s tax-exempt status.
