Dr. James Mandley

Dr. James B. Mandley joins the Board of Directors with a distinguished 22-year career in the United States Marine Corps, where he retired as a Gunnery Sergeant (E-7). Specializing in logistics, Dr. Mandley developed a profound expertise in leadership, organizational effectiveness, and operational discipline across global environments.
Following his military retirement, Dr. Mandley served in several high-impact leadership roles within the Department of Defense. His background as a Regional Sexual Assault Response Manager, Family Programs Director, and Employee Assistance Program Manager directly aligns with the Foundation’s mission to support individuals through trauma and crisis. His professional advocacy has consistently focused on providing comprehensive support services for service members and their families during their most challenging transitions.
Dr. Mandley holds a Bachelor’s in Psychology, a Master’s in Human Relations, and a Doctorate of Education in Leadership and Management. Currently an educator in Clayton, North Carolina, he remains dedicated to mentorship, accountability, and positive behavioral development. His lifelong commitment to service and his deep understanding of the military and first-responder landscape make him an invaluable advocate for the heroes supported by the Larry Pickett Foundation.
