Shawnonne Pickett
Secretary, Board Director
Shawnonne Pickett is a distinguished educator, entrepreneur, and community leader based in Raleigh, North Carolina. As the Director and Owner of Little People Preschool, she has spent over two decades shaping a nurturing environment for early childhood development. Her expertise in the field led to a vital collaboration with the North Carolina Governor’s Office under the leadership of Governor Roy Cooper. Shawnonne was instrumental in the launch of the Building Bright Futures program, a statewide initiative designed to attract new talent to the early childhood field by providing funding for college education for aspiring preschool teachers.
Faith and service are the cornerstones of Shawnonne’s life. Since 1999, she has been a pillar of her church community, where she and her husband, Larry Sr., serve as Elders. Her role involves providing guidance, support, and leadership to the congregation, reflecting her deep-seated passion for spiritual growth and community stability.
Following the heroic rescue involving her husband and son in September 2025, Shawnonne stepped into a critical leadership role to help turn that bravery into a permanent mission of hope. As the Secretary of The Larry Pickett Foundation, she provides the administrative leadership and strategic vision necessary to drive the organization’s initiatives. Her work ensures the foundation effectively reaches those in need—uplifting and equipping people far beyond the borders of North Carolina.
A devoted wife and mother, Shawnonne resides in Raleigh with her husband and their three children, Lauren, Olivia, and LJ. Whether influencing state policy, leading her congregation, or managing foundation operations, she remains committed to the work of restoration and empowerment for all.
